Robinson proud of players

Nevertheless Robinson was very proud of his players and their achievement in reaching the last 16 of the competition and he feels their cup run could be just the start of things to come for the Waterside men. “I’m a wee bit disappointed that we aren’t going to be playing Linfield, but I’m really proud of the players and the run, which we had,” explained Robinson. “To get to the last 16 and to even be in the draw for the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup, was just amazing. “This team (Coagh) are sitting top of Championship Two, they have only lost two league games all season and I think we have proved that if we do get the facilitates to go forward then we are certainly good enough.” Robinson also felt after a shaky first half, his players produced a good display and on a better day, may have got the result they wanted. “I was delighted with the performance, especially in the second half, the funny thing was I think we played better on Monday than what we did in the first match, with a weaker team. “We weren’t playing well and we never played well in the first half and I was happy going in 2-1 down because we weren’t in the game at all. We said at the break that we were still in the tie at half-time even though we hadn’t played well. “We upped it in the second half and we were unlucky not to get a couple of goals, so I was delighted with the performance and delighted with the run in the cup, which we got. “I think in the first half maybe we were a wee bit nervous with the players that we brought in, maybe they haven’t been playing enough but in the second half we settled down and started to realise that we could have a go at this team.” The Newbuildings gaffer admitted that Graham Moore deserved to get sent-off, however he felt if referee Andrew Davey had have stopped play earlier, then his defender would not have shown the dissent, which in the end resulted in him getting a straight red card. “I thought there was only one side in the second half but they sneaked a couple of goals. The referee was really disappointing over the two games, all the big decisions went their way. One of our player’s (Graham Moore) was lying in the middle of the pitch with a head injury, but the game goes on and he gets sent-off, I don’t understand some of his decisions. “There was unnecessary dissent because the game wasn’t stopped, if the referee had have seen the head injury and stopped the game straight away and booked that player, which would have been his second yellow and sent him off, then there wouldn’t have been dissent. “All the dissent seems to have come from the referee’s wrong decisions.”
