Coleraine Under-11's win seven-goal thriller

COLERAINE Academy Under-11's picked another three points as they edged out Maiden City in a seven-goal thriller.

Ben White put Coleraine in front with a great chip after Rhys Stirling's corner wasn't properly cleared.

Maiden City came back into the game when the Academy failed to clear the ball and after scrappy play on the line, the Maiden City boys tapped the ball in.

Scott Weir quickly responded to the equaliser as he collected the ball, turned the defender and fired the ball into the top corner to leave the score 2-1 to Coleraine at half-time.

Unfortunately, after the break, Maiden City scored two quick goals but Coleraine upped the pressure again.

Kevin O’Kane came on and made an instant impact when he collected the ball, ran straight through the City defence and slipped the ball past the keeper to bring Coleraine back into the game.

The winner then came from Rhys Stirling. After great battling from Oscar Moffitt-Clarke, Rhys collected the ball and stuck it in the top corner with his left foot to complete another great performance by the boys.

Man of the Match: Josh Dunn.

The visitors went in front with six minutes on the clock. Coleraine then rallied after going behind with Jason McQuilken shooting just wide followed by Kain Arthur bringing a save from the Institute keeper.

Into the second half and substitute Johnny Mairs levelled things up as he fired in an unstoppable shot.

Coleraine were pushing for the winner but Stute were looking dangerous on the break and only a great block on the line by Dan Mairs prevented the visitors from retaking the lead.

Unfortunately Institute did grab a second as the Bannsiders defence failed to clear their lines.
