EIGHTEEN riders gathered last Thursday for the third road race of the season for Dromara Cycling Club and the 12th event in the club's 2008 calendar.
The venue was a new 6.03 mile circuit close to Drumaroad. The weather stayed good, a little windy with nice bright sunshine to finish.

The race was handicapped with riders placed into four starting groups. Details of the time handicaps are given i
n the table below. Trevor and Stephen Phillips sorted out the timekeeping effortlessly although one marshal did go to the wrong junction, but many thanks to them and all the marshalls.

There were a few new faces at this event and fair play to the them for giving road racing a go. There was a slight mix up at the start when the scratch group allegedly followed Ronnie on the first lap, missed the first turn, took the next turn and effectively added two miles to their course!

Two juniors joined the Dromara club (Ross and Ryan) for their first time racing and, chaperoned by Deek and Davy R, they seemed to have enjoyed their evening

Well done to Paul Smyth for getting maximum points (50). As Ronnie and Davy took the long route, it was felt that it would be better to judge them on their average speed, given this they were awarded with points equivalent to second and sixth respectively.
